1.1. What's new in the Active Control FAQ

July 1999: The section on Web links has been drastically abbreviated because modern search sites have made it largely obsolete.

July 1996: The FAQ now has a permanent home at http://www.erols.com/ruckman/ancfaq.htm, a web site maintained by the author.

January 1996: An article based on this FAQ appeared in a recent issue of Echoes, the quarterly newsletter of the Acoustical Society of America (Spring 1996).

November 1995: The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) recently awarded its 1994 Science Writing Award for this FAQ. The award recognizes "distinguished writing (or producing) that improves public understanding and appreciation of acoustics." The ASA, which gives two such awards each year, has never before honored a work published only on the Internet.
