Active Noise Control NewsSelected events in Active Noise Control: Digisonix has been re-organized after Nelson Industries was bought by Cummins Engine. The focus of Digisonix has migrated from HVAC noise reduction to internal combustion exhaust noise reduction. The technical staff has reduced in size. Signal Systems Corporation has demonstrated high frequency active noise control as part of the Defense Advanced Project Agency & Office of Naval Research sponsored Smart Skin Program. The controller used for the real time demonstration included TMS320C62 digital signal processors, with high speed data converters, to reduce self noise on a acoustic array structure. The controller demonstrated over 320 million adaptive filter evaluations per second. Cymer, a leading supplier of excimer light sources used in semiconductor manufacturing, has completed its acquistion of ACX (Active Control eXperts), a leading developer of active vibration reduction products. ACX will be focused on reducing nano-scale vibration in next generation semiconducter capital equipment.
